STOP PRESS
Continuing our support for young musicians and local schools, we are excited to welcome Clarinettist Easher Austin who along with our accompanist Oksana King will be playing two movements from Finzi’s Five Bagatelles and the 1st movement of his Clarinet Concerto.
Easher Austin is a 15 year old music scholar at Loughborough Grammar School and is organ scholar at St James the Greater Church, Leicester. As a clarinettist on both the B flat instrument and the bass clarinet he was the principal clarinettist of the CBSO Youth Orchestra for the 2025/26 season and remains in that position in the 2026/27 season. He has completed three tours with the National Youth Orchestra. He won the Bardi Young Musician competition in 2026 playing W A Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A which he also performed with the Bardi Orchestra. He will be repeating the performance in September 2026, this time with the Rutland Sinfonia. Having achieved Grade 8 distinctions in clarinet, organ and piano, he is the youngest ever member of the British Clarinet Ensemble where he plays bass clarinet on tours in both the UK and abroad. He is the organist for the Bardi Orchestra when they play in the De Montfort Hall and has twice been Highly Commended in the BBC Young Composer competition.
Our well-known pianist/accompanist, Oksana King, will also be performing as soloist in the concert. She will play two pieces from Benjamin Britten’s work “Holiday Diary” composed in 1934 capturing holiday activities such as early morning bathing, sailing, the joy of the funfair and summer nights.
What an exciting programme.
